-> Using PDF files |
The Red Rope web site publishes many documents in PDF format. This is a standard format used widely on the web because it allows us to publish read only documents that can be read by different types of computer such as PCs and MACs. When you click on a link to a PDF document it will open in a PDF reader. If yoy get an error message you may need to download one of the free PDF readers. (See below)
Depending on how you have set up your computer the document may open in the reader itself or it may be displayed in a browser window. If the PDF reader is displayed in a browser window this can cause confusion about how to print the document. If it does not print as you would expect read the section on ‘Printing PDF files’ below.
If you do not have a PDF reader on your computer you can download the free Acrobat reader by clicking on the ‘Get Acrobat Reader’ icon below. For a PC this download is about 27MB.
If you have a PC and do not have a broadband connection you can use the free Foxit Reader instead which is a lot smaller (1.2MB).
If the PDF document is displayed in a browser window then you must use the print icon on the PDF reader icon bar. Do not use your internet browser print command, it will not work.

This is what you may see on your computer. Use the printer icon that has been circled in red. The picture is of the Acrobat reader in an Internet Explorer window on a PC. If you are using a different combination of programs the layout will be different but you should still be able to find the reader’s print icon easily.
