Scotland, the Ramblers

and the Open Spaces Society.
BMC affiliated membership brings additional benefits to Red Rope members - see here for details.
Red Rope is a national club for socialist walkers and climbers. We have around 500 members all over the country, and there are over a hundred trips each year: day walks and climbs, weekend and week-long trips to the mountains.
Every member receives a list of walks, climbs, social events and meetings (bi-monthly paper or monthly email).
Red Rope is unique among outdoor clubs because:
· Membership
and trip charges are all scaled according to income. Currently there
are eight
income bands, see membership charges
for
details.
· Red
Rope welcomes walkers and climbers of all abilities. You don't need to
be
experienced to join, just enthusiastic and willing to join in and
contribute.
· We
campaign on issues affecting outdoor activities, particularly access to
the
countryside.
· Trips,
transport and cooking are arranged for the whole group - reducing costs
and
sharing the work and responsibility.
· Red
Rope supports child carers: children are welcome on most trips and
child-care
can usually be arranged if required.
· Red
Rope is organised regionally under the umbrella of the national club.
Members
join their closest region, but are welcome to go on trips run by other
regions.
National trips are open to everyone.
